• So I renewed my domain, and then my website disappeared that day.

My domain name is stopbeingconfusedabouthealth.com. The homepage is a blog page… so domain.com/blog.

Now I don’t know how this works but upon creating my blog, first what happened was I self-hosted on wordpress because I didn’t know what I was doing. So then I switched to blue host and had to do a domain transfer. In that process I created two blogs with the same name. The old one is my domain.wordpress.com, and the one I use is domain.com.

Now when I received an email that my domain was to expire, I renewed it, but I think it changed the .wordpress.com to the domain, and rendered the other one useless.

So on the 24th (yesterday) when I renewed it, and then went to “My Sites” on wordpress.com, and clicked on the active blog that I use, it looked like the old one, and all the content disappeared. (well I know it’s on bluehost somewhere and I could probably do another domain transfer). SO yes, I was planning to just transferring all the info from the active one to the old one which stole the domain name by accident.

However, TODAY, I noticed I still have visitors to the site, so I clicked on the pages that they visited and found that the pages were completely functional! But when I typed in my domain (try it – stopbeingconfusedabouthealth.com) it says safari can’t find the page.

So can anyone tell me what to do?

In addition – I was able to get into my dashboard, but again upon clicking “Visit Site” it didn’t work. So I have no idea how people are able to view my website right now.

  • https://www.stopbeingconfusedabouthealth.com/ works fine for me as coming from BlueHost, https://www.whois.com/whois/stopbeingconfusedabouthealth.com, so maybe you just need to completely clear your browser’s cache. My Firefox does that to me occasionally and then I remember after a Support Tech insists my site is displaying just fine!

As an aside here: Sites at wordpress.com are never self-hosted. Being at a Host such as BlueHost or Arvixe or wherever is what makes your WordPress installation “self-hosted” by no longer being hosted at the wordpress.com incubator.
