E-commerce Link Issue on TikTok
-
Hello,
For the last few months, my e-commerce link has been in my TikTok bio without any issues. However, one to two months ago, it suddenly stopped redirecting to my website when used with an iPhone and started displaying an error message prompting users to “try again later”. Despite my efforts, including deactivate all website plugins and put all pages (except Homepage) in draft, I haven’t been able to resolve the problem.
The link can still be reached with Iphone if when receiving the error message, I select the 3 dots and “open in browser”.
It’s worth noting that this issue only occurs when accessing my link using Tiktok. Copying and pasting the link or using Google or Instagram does not trigger the problem. Interestingly, the link also fails to work when placed in a Linktree first if accessed with Tiktok. The linktree link works perfectly fine when accessed from anywhere else.
I’ve observed that this problem doesn’t manifest when using an Android phone or when my TikTok app on an old iPhone hasn’t been updated. There seems to be some compatibility issue between the Iphone’s TikTok and my website, but given that my website is relatively simple, I’m baffled as to what could be causing this.
The error is also experienced by my potential customers using their own Iphone. The issue is not solved by updating the app.
The link is working perfectly on Mac too.
I saw this post and this one both about a similar problem and was really hopeful it was my instant messaging pluggin (Tidio) creating the problem but after deleting it and redownloading TikTok, the issue is still the same…
I’m hopeful that you can provide some insights or suggestions to help me resolve this issue promptly. Your assistance is greatly appreciated, as this problem is affecting my business and customer retention.
