E-commerce tracking iDeal and Paypal doesn't work

    Hello,

    In our webshop the transactions paid with Paypal and iDeal aren’t tracked in GA. If our customer pays with iDeal or Paypal, their being directed to the page where they can pay. After they have paid they are sent through to our thankyou page but then the products they bought aren’t tracked by the GTM.

    In the source you can see the datalayer is empty:
    <script type=”text/javascript”>
    dataLayer.push([]);

    If a customer pais with for example: pay on delivery, then the transaction is sent through correct to GA.

    How can I fix this problem?

    Hi,

    As far as I can see I have to change the way how I fire the gtm4wp.orderCompleted event.

    I am going to prepare a fix for this in the coming days.

    Hi Maikel,

    Due the the XMas season I decided not to release a new version so that another possible hidden bug does not affect existing users.

    I hope you understand my concerns.
    I postponed the release until around the beginning of January.

    Have you come across the same issues but around Bing Ads tracking? We have Google Ad Words tracking on some thank you pages and the same setup with Bing, however the conversions do not seem to be recorded in GTM. Thanks.

    Hi,

    Some other users reported that they are missing transactions payed using PayPal and I spent the last few days investigating this issue further.

    It seems that by default PayPal does not redirect users back to your website after payment. Users have the option to close the browser window or to navigate to another site. This means that those users does not reach the WooCommerce thankyou page where I could pass the transaction data to GTM and where your Bing or other marketing tags could fire.

    One option we are testing now is to enable auto return in PayPal settings:

    If you are able to set this up I would be happy if you could do this and get back here with your findings.
