E-Mail Before Download Plugin Form Not Submitting

  • I am looking to add a section on the site where a user would have to enter an e-mail address in order to get access to a white paper. I have installed the email before download plugin and followed instructions to set this up. It is displaying fine but when I enter details to test it I just get the message ‘There was an error trying to send your message. Please try again later’ I have tried this multiple times and cannot seem to figure out what is going on.

    The short code I have used is [email-download download_id=”7821″ contact_form_id=”7811″]. Can anyone offer any help on why this might not be working?

    It seems that the developer is MIA – a lot of us are awaiting responses for different things; but I will see if I can help.

    Normally when you see that message (at least for me previously) it means that the form is actually not completing the submission. If you have other forms on your website that are not connected to “Email Before Download” are you able to submit those successfully (using the same contact form plugin CF7) without any error messages?

    Below is one of the biggest and most common error fixes within Email Before Download.

    With email before download and recent wordpress updates, the email field in contact form 7 MUST BE your-email or else it will not work.

    In your wordpress dashboard settings > General – your WordPress Address and Site Address MUST BE all lowercase. I have no idea why but this seemed to fix issues for some.

    Let me know if you can submit a regular contact form on your site with out email before download associated with it first. If you cannot successfully submit, you need to configure your SMTP settings / plugin.
