    Hi,
I just started using your plugin, but for some reason no emails are being sent after a comment receives a reply.

Any ideas what the issue could be?

That’s not related to my plugin. Seems your webhosting doesn’t allow phpmailer, or that your receiving email provider doesn’t accept phpmailer emails from your web-server.

You should install an email plugin like WP Mail SMTP and set up your email with SMTP authentication. That will have better deliverability.

    thanks for the feedback treeflips!

Interestingly, I don’t have any issues with any other e-mails being sent (i.e. woocommerce order confirmation). Wouldn’t this be using phpmailer as well?

If you’re 100% sure other emails are being sent, then it has to be an issue with my plugin. But it might also be that your client email server accepts phpmailer whereas your admin email server doesn’t. I assume you’re not getting the comment notification emails to your admin email address, right?

When someone places an order, an email gets sent from [email protected] to the customer as well as to the admin email (using Kadence WooCommerce Email Designer to send customer email).

When someone makes a comment, an email should get sent from [email protected] to the author’s email.

fyi, for debugging purposes I have also tried this plugin:
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/comment-notifier-no-spammers/

With that plugin, no e-mails are being sent either.

I’m just a tad confused, that e-mails from orders work perfectly, while emails from comments don’t…

IMO, you should simply use SMTP email plugin. Don’t even bother trying to do diagnose phpmailer deliverability. Even if it “sends”, it doesn’t mean the clients receive. All serious businesses use transactional email service anyway for these kinds of things.

Thanks for your advice! And impact of these plugins on website performance is acceptable?

Zero impact on performance. They don’t load anything on frontend. I’m an absolute speed fanatic.

Allright, I will take a look at that ?? thank you for your support!!

No problem. Do come back and let me know how it goes. I’ll close this for now. Good luck!

    Hi Treeflips,

I just installed your plugin. Great job by the way! Question please. When I tested the reply emails the only emails being received are the ones I reply back to.

When someone replies back to a comment they are not receiving an email again only when I reply on the backend under comments.

So just to make sure I am communicating correctly, the only emails being sent is me replying back to the comments. No emails are being sent if someone replies back to another persons comment after I approve it.

    Any ideas?

I can send you a video if you like ??

Hi @nittygrittytechy and thanks for the comments!

Don’t worry about the video, I understood you perfectly.

Do you have an email/SMTP plugin installed? I suspect maybe your server is not doing well at getting PHPmail out? For sure, everyone should be able to get replies from other visitors as well.
