Easier full width template for Posts, Category Searches..

Is there a way to add toggles or a layout choice for the category pages and single post pages? I had to remove those lines in the php of the theme and I don’t want to have to go and try to find those lines if this theme updates again.

I shrunk the widget sidebar columns in the php to 0 and increased the post from 8 to 12 to fill the page. Maybe add layout options to theme customization for a cleaner and easier configuration?
