Easy and smooth? NO! But can do a lot.

It is with a big sigh of relief I have finally found another Document Library plugin so I could delete WPDM from our site! After many years of frustration life has improved since I do not have to get angry over how complicated it is to work with this plugin and how irritating the support is.

When I started using this plugin many years ago I was absolutely tearing my hair in anger! And we never needed any complicated stuff, so it should be easy. But I could not then find any alternative when it comes to handle and display lots of download files in file lists, so I was stuck with this.

(I never understood why there is so little competition? File managing and presenting downloadable files to front end customers must be a very common thing to be needing for so many company sites? But seems to be more to choose from now.)

In the last years this plugin (pro) has improved, I give you that. The support pages are a little bit better and explain more, there are more support staff and they are maybe a bit nicer, and some things are working smoother. But overall I think the big problem is the developer want this to be a multi-purpose plugin that can do just about everything. But that makes everything very heavy to manage and at the core some basic things are still not as they should be year after year.

You can do a lot with this plugin, but you also have to invest A LOT of time and testing to make it work and look they way you want it to.

Godbye, I have found an easier path to go, that looks good right out of the box and works very nice when it comes to display document lists to our clients.
