Easy linking to Media items from Menus

I have a client who is looking for an easier functionality for linking to media items from the Menus screen.

Currently she is having to copy and paste the url into the custom link function and do it that way. She is wanting to link to PDF and DOC files. I looked into several document management plugins hoping that one of them possibly would provide that functionality, but I did not see anything.

Does anyone have any suggestions or simple things that I am completely oblivious to to help our client?
