• Just wanted to help clarify this for some other people who might have run into the same confusion as me. I originally installed Easy Modal to create an auto-open overlay on my site homepage. It didn’t work, but Easy Modal’s support pointed me to Popup Maker, which is exactly what I needed! This plugin comes with a good number of options/features standard, and the dashboard is well-organized. Keep it up guys.

One downside – the plugin adds entries to your dashboard menu right under “dashboard” that should be rolled up under the popup maker menu itself.

Thanks for the feedback. We will continue to drive this plugin to the top of its categories. It should already be better than most, and we are improving it every chance we get.

Might I ask why only 4 stars? You didn’t mention what it may be lacking to lose a star. Would be happy to earn that extra star ??

Daniel – I’ve noticed that the Popup Maker creates some new entries on the WP dashboard left menu right below “Dashboard” when installed. I feel as though these are a bit obtrusive, and could be consolidated into the submenu under Popup Maker’s primary nav menu on the dashboard. Here’s a screengrab so you can see what I mean:

I don’t know whether that was intentional or not. If it was, my preference as a user would be to have those entries rolled up under Popup Maker’s primary nav menu on the dashboard.

You know what’s weird? That menu doesn’t always show up either. I get that it’s meant to be a tutorial kinda. Strange though.

Acutally those menu items are there, just like any other plugin that uses a intro or getting started guide. But they should not show up on the menu. They are removed by default, unless you have a plugin that you use to manage menu items in admin. Like limiting what is shown for instance.

    They shouldn’t be there. https://wppopupmaker.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/menu-items-missing.png

PS any plugin that does welcome pages, likely does them the same way. We used code that already existed in several major plugins. Easy Digital Downloads(~500k downloads) does it the same way.

You are experiencing a bug it seems. Which I would be glad to solve, especially if its the only reason you gave it 4 stars.

One more note, just tested to see if they showed up when you were on them.

To test the same way, disable and re-enable the plugin which will redirect you to the welcome page.

Even there on my default install those menu items aren’t shown. So there must be something else going on here.

Daniel – Still no luck here. I deactivated then reactivated the plugin like you said.

I’d like to do what I can to help you resolve this also, though it seems it may just be isolated to me? Let me know what I can do.

Hey Leizmonk, please start a support forum topic on this matter so we can get it resolved without adding a ton of comments to your review. It may be helpful if possible to get temporary admin access to troubleshoot further.

@leizmonk – Have any of the updates recently fixed the extra menu items in your system? I have a feeling its some type of conflict or admin plugin that is causing them to be shown. In fact I can show you where they are removed.

    Thread Starter leizmonk

    (@leizmonk)

Unfortunately, the updates have not fixed the extra menu items appearing. If you have insight as to which plugins might be conflicting, please let me know and I’ll be happy to work with you to figure this thing out.

@leizmonk – If you can either allow me temporary admin access, or bear with me until the next update where I will add a tool to spit out debug info that you can copy and paste here.

If #1 is an option you can email me directly: danieliser at wizardinternetsolutions.com

Daniel, I’ll wait for the debug too (that’s a smart move on your part for sure!)

Yea, been meaning to, will show WP Info, Plugin & Theme info, php & JS info. Anonymized of course for public posting.

But will allow me to without looking call out problems.
