Easy to use, quick, efficient

This was exactly the plugin I need to migrate my Joomla 1.5 site to WordPress. I had more than 1,000 articles and blog entries and more than 1,000 photos, and the plug-in brought them over.

I was doing an internal domain migration on the same web host and server. It was easy to create root/wp, install wordpress, install FG Joomla to WordPress, and get all of my files and photos to root/wp using the plugin.

However, I was in over my head in terms of doing the work to flip the Joomla 1.5 site from root to root/joomla2 and my wordpress version of the site from root/wp to root, especially in terms of the mysql work it required. Frederic came to the rescue and I was able to hire him for a very reasonable fee to do this work.

The most painful part of my Joomla to WP migration has actually been WP’s reliance on the featured image. None of my 1,000+ Joomla posts had a featured image. I’ve gone in manually and added featured images to probably 100+ posts to make things look okay in my WordPress theme, but I’ll never be able to do all 1,000 — and that’s unfortunate.
