Easy way to create/link WP galleries from existing directories?

  • I was wondering if there is an easy way to create WordPress gallery from existing files/folders and avoiding the creation of the hundreds of duplicate image files created from the media library and/or theme functions etc. The best option for me will be if there is a way this to be done without plugin as I want to preserve the native WordPress gallery shortcodes.
