    Hi!

I received an email concerning the 4.0.1 upgrade. I went on my site to check if everything was okay. It seems like both the easy slider and contact form functions are now both broken (not showing at all on my page).

    Did I miss something out?

    Thank you in advance,

    Guillaume

I can feel your pain Infinityjane!

The most frustrating part it the “No further action is needed on your part” in the email!

As a developer, I really don’t understand how this passed the QAQC process.

We really wish you wouldn’t downgrade.

In the case of a major release, we understand code may not work right on the new version, and encourage everyone to test upgrades before going.

The auto-updates for minor releases was introduced in 2013 with WordPress 3.7, and has been applied quite a few times since then. The auto updates are only for minor release number updates. So 4.0 will update to 4.0.1 but it will not update to 4.1. The major version number release upgrades have to be initiated manually in the WordPress dashboard as always.

That means if you’re having problems after a minor upgrade with specific plugins or themes, the issue is that those items aren’t coded as well as they could be. These minor updates are really minor and security related. Downgrading puts you at a very high risk of being hacked and we don’t want that.

I really don’t see how this is supposed to help us fix our problems.

For those having this problem and using enfold, I suggest this post https://www.kriesi.at/support/topic/since-wordpress-4-0-1-update-all-my-slideshows-are-gone

4.0.1 is a security release. If some slider or contact form plugin is having an issue with it, then it would be better to fix the issue there than to downgrade.

Exactly Guillaume… I neither see how that solves my problems that are not “minor” at the moment, because its a LOT of pages.
Its the sliders AND the formulars on each one..

I really don’t know what to do.

But can you explain how i downgrade again? AND how i DONT automatic upgrade so this is not happening again?

Or do you solve the problem within the next 24 hours?

I don’t think my costumers that has all those pages, would like no contact formular neither sliders and so, on their pages. They of coarse complain to… ME.. ??

But i don’t know how to “fix” the issues… And its – as i told – a lot of pages i then need to “fix”… not only one… Thats the biggest problem..

On the link I posted, you will find a video that should show you how to downgrade to 4.0. If you are using enfold, there is supposed to be a new update, but I am still searching for it.

If I find the perfect solution, I will post it here.

But i don’t know how to “fix” the issues

Yes, but fortunately, this is a “support forum”. A place where people who do know how to fix issues can respond to posts. ??

So far, all we know is that these things you’re describing are “now both broken”. What you haven’t posted is details of the problem, your site’s URL, what theme you’re using, what plugins you’re using, how you’re using them, or any other information which might produce answers from people who might have them.

Details are important. Knowing that a problem exists is step 1, but describing the problem in detail for others to see is right up there too.

    Thread Starter guillaume.nepveu

    (@guillaumenepveu)

The problem is not related to wordpress 4.0.1 (well not directly), but is related to the enfold plugin.

Infinityjane can you tell me what plugin you are using?

    Thread Starter guillaume.nepveu

    (@guillaumenepveu)

Ok I fixed my problems. My plugin released an update to be compatible with the “minor” changes.

I suggest you try this Infinityjane.

The plugin in question was using shortcodes in a way that is less than optimal.
