This one is bizarre (to me)…

I have two text widgets which utilize this shortcode functionality. The left-most widget has [ecs-list-events cat=’Community’ limit=’3′]. The center widget has [ecs-list-events cat=’Chapter’ limit=’2′ venue=’true’].

The problem is that everything displays properly when I am logged in (as an admin), but if I am logged out, both text widgets display the first shortcode.

The only major change I made recently was to install s2member, and of course update to WordPress 4.9. What could be wrong?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @mstarks01!

It is using different shortcodes since the first one has 3 events and no venue, whereas the second one has 2 events but the venue included.

I’m wondering if you might need to re-type the cat='Chapter' part and ensure there are no “special quotes” that might be interfering with it? The s2member or other plugin might also be interfering with the filtering by category functionality so disabling it temporarily and seeing if that fixes it is another thing to try.

    Hey @brianhogg!

Thanks for the quick response. I deactivated s2member and that was it. Unfortunately, I need both. Any idea why this could be happening?

Just a bit more info. It seems that in the middle widget, when s2member is activated, it is simply ignoring the chapter category altogether, but not the limit–and only when logged out. Weird.

    Definitely odd!

Unfortunately you’ll need to reach out to the author(s) of s2member for support, since their plugin seems to be affecting the query for events on your site for logged out users. It’s not something we’re able to fix.
