(wow it has beena journey) BUT NOW I want to put in the right URL for ECTO to post to my blog and I can’t figure out the address??? THIS does not work https://www.mydomain.net/xmlrpc.php. along with this is the question of what system to tell ECTO I am using becacause WP is not one of the options what system is being ‘faked’?

  • Its metaweblog… if you don’t get that right, the rest won’t work ??

Ecto works fine for me. Mind you I actually seem to prefer the web interface for WP.

I actually have the same problem: ok, “System: metaweblog” is alright; but what _exactly_ is the url of the “Access Point”?

I have my WordPress-installation (v. 1.2.2) in a directory called “wordpress”: does this mean, I have to fill in under “Access Point”: https://www.mydomain.com/wordpress/xmlrpc.php? or: without “wordpress”?

I checked ecto’s help (under OS X): there you can read, the url of the access point is: https://www.yoursite.com/path/xmlrpc.php

So maybe my question is: how to interpret “path/”?
would it be in my case: “wordpress/”?
(not that I didnt try any and all options, at least 10 times each … — no avail, ecto is always telling me: “Connection failed”, no list of blogs could be retrieved, etc.)

I guess, ecto should work with any account (user/pass) created in the WordPress-installation, not just the admin – is that correct?

Is the Access Point of a regular (default-ish) WP-installation password-protected, i.e. do I need to click the lock-icon in the ecto-panel and fill in user/pass?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You need the full path to your xmlrpc file so if that is in that subdirectory, then thats what the URL needs to be.

Mine is at the top level so its https://www.site.com/xmlrpc.php

If its failing for you, are you putting in the entire path or just the wordpress/? Use the entire path.

Are you putting the filename in as well? you need to.

As for whether it works with other logins..I would have thought that any valid login would work. I might be wrong. You DO have to log in though. Go to your account manager and edit. Make sure you have the FULL path and also your username and password. I am probably telling you to do something you did a hundred times already but I found when things dont work for me, tis best to start over, from the beginning. So if that fails, delete the entry and start over. if *that* fails, I have no further ideas and you should go to the ecto support forums and seek assistance over there.

Sorry I can’t be of more assistance :-/

I think I was using 1.22 when it was working for me, so you should be okay. working okay now with 1.5 too
