    Hello,

I sell conferences and their recordings so I only add the downloadable file of the conference only after the event and once the customers have purchased. I have version 3.1.2 of woocomere so I can’t find the files in my account while I bought this product. So I added the grant-download-permissions-for-past-woocommerce-orders plugin as you recommend but it still does not work. What should I do to make these files accessible?

Thanks a lot for your help,

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • I have this exact same question and have also downloaded and installed the legacy plugin. I “updated” the product page as I figured that may be what triggers the granting of download permission to those who have already pre-purchased before all the digital files were available, but so far no luck. Any suggestions?

    Hi there,

WooCommerce doesn’t automatically regenerate downloadable product permissions on past orders – it would require very heavy database operations which could seriously slow down or overload the site so it was removed from WooCommerce core. You can always regenerate permissions on individual orders using the Actions menu on the order page: https://cld.wthms.co/5gDjyQ

If you absolutely need to generate permissions on all orders at once, I found a code snippet that should do this:

    https://codegist.net/code/woocommerce-generate-download-permissions/

I’d recommend to try it out on a test site first as it can overload the site, and increase the PHP time limit after adding it.

    Cheers!

    Hi,

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’ll mark this thread as resolved now. If you have some more questions, feel free to start a new one.

    Cheers!

    Hi didoulr

We ran into the same problem that we wanted to grant access for new product files to past orders that expire at the same time as the files from the original orders.

After a lot of searching I finally broke down and developed a plugin that allows us to copy the permissions from one file to another.
We offer it for sale at https://www.makbiz.ca/shop/wordpress-plugins/mak-woocommerce-download-permissions/ for anyone who has the same issues.

    All the best
    Mark
