  • Hi fscbmwcca,

We have 3 ways to edit ads in AWPCP:
    – From the back end, using the ad management panel
    – From the front end, using the access key and email on the Edit Ad page
    – From the front end, using the logged in user’s info, if they own the ad, directly on the ad

I presume you mean one of the latter two, and it sounds like you have it setup to use the first one.

If you want front-end editing, uncheck the option “Use Ad Management panel” under Classifieds->Settings, General tab. If you want the third option, make sure you have ‘Require Registration’ on the Registration tab checked (while preserving the first setting). The user must own the ad they try to edit, otherwise it won’t work.

That did the trick! Thank you so much!

One last question, can I control the # of days the ad is active? I want to reduce it to do some testing on Renew Ad.
I have looked at all the settings and can’t seem to find it.

    Hi fscbmwcca,

Yes, you can. Where you change it depends on the kind of ads you’re placing.

If it’s free ads, the setting is under Classifieds->Settings, Ad/Listing tab (Ad Length for Free Ads). But if you have a paid ad, the length of time is controlled by the fee plan under Classifieds->Fees.

    Thanks for the prompt reply.
I am running Version 3.6.3.1 and have Free Ads but I do not see “Ad Length for Free Ads” on the Setting>Ad/Listing tab. I did a search on the page and it’s not there the only thing that has Free on it is “Free ads deletion threshold”

Yes, that’s the setting–I gave you the name of one from another plugin. Sorry!

0 means “forever” so if you want it to be different, change it. FYI–once you do that, it only affects NEW listings. Existing listings need to have their expiration date modified if you want to alter it for them.

    Hello,

Ad Management at backend Dashboard works fine, only problem THE TITLE!
“AWPCP Ad Management Panel – Listings”

Why do users need to have “AWPCP” in the title managing their listings at a given site?
They have no idea what that stands for and this is rather misleading.
Wouldn’t be possible to have the site’s title variable (or better: the user’s name) here instead?

    Thanks.

    Hi John,

Just an FYI, when you have a new issue, please create a new thread as this makes searching easier in the future.

I thought we had taken care of that, I’ll get my developer to check it again and make it the site title as it should have been on this release.

    Thanks.

    Hi John,

Looks like this broke somewhere along the way. We’ve fixed it in our dev version which you’re welcome to by contacting me. Otherwise, it will be in the next release.

Thanks, no problem then, will wait for the next one.
