Hey guys when i am using the “visual” editor in Firefox, the strike through, bullets, indent, alignment, link and picture buttons are missing. However in IE they are all there as normal.

I just recently upgraded to 2.1 and noticed they were missing after the upgrade. Any idea as to what is happening?

  • Same here, on a Mac I can’t get the visual editors to display on either Firefox or Safari.

Dunno that they’ll ever be there for safari…

In FF, have you tried a ctrl-F5 (clear browser cache) while on the Write Posts page?

Brilliant! Ctrl-F5 fixed the issue. Thank you!

I have the same problem: it is not a cache problem. I trued on different computers. The result is the same. No problem with IE 6 and IE7. The problem is with Firefox (Linux and Windows) and Opera (Linux).

diabolik, in your case I’d theorize you missed something in the install then.

Try clearing wp-includes from the server and uploading a fresh copy?

But if everything works with Internet Explorer, it’s impossible I missed something. Anyway, I re-uploaded wp-includes. The problem persists.

Apologies – I somehow missed that part of your post.

Any adblock or jscript blockers or screeners installed as FF extensions?

For me, shift-refresh or ctrl-refresh makes the visual buttons comes back, but only temporarily. If I later refresh normally, the visual buttons usually disappear again.

I’m guessing this has something to do with the way our browsers are caching javascript files. However, I’m really not sure…

diabolik, were you able to fix the problem (or at least find a pleasant workaround)? If so, how?

I just came here looking for an answer, and the F5 trick worked for me! I am running adblock in FF, but it’s working now, so I’m happy! Thanks for the posts.
