Edit Comment Form

    I need to add a field to the comment form to require entering an email address to comment.

    I also need comments to not be published automatically but first be approved…I have this turned on in wordpress but it doesn’t affect the comment form.

    Any help appreciated!

    To add field in comment form you can use the 3rd party plugin. Please refer the below url-

    I am looking for a soluytion that does not involve another plugin. Using a plugin for this is something I can figure out myself.

    Something in CSS or html – or something I might have overlooked in the theme itself.

    Hi @autistictic,

    To customize the comment form, you could create a child theme and override the following file

    /suevafree/comments.php

    About the automatic approvation of the comments, i tested successfully this option.

    Please go to the reading settings and be sure to check “Comment must be manually approved” for “Before a comment appears” option.
