• Hello, my client is pulling up this old forum post in search results and has requested I remove it so that her customers and employers will not see it. However I am unable to edit it now. I am not looking to delete the post but if possible would like a moderator to please remove or break the live link in the first message.

  • It is not the general policy to edit or delete forum posts. When a post is made and people contribute answers to an issue, that then becomes part of the community resource for others to benefit from. Deleting posts removes this added value. In extreme circumstances, the moderation team might be persuaded to remove sensitive information but. generally, your best course of action is not to publish anything that you wouldn’t want to be public. I’m sorry but this is not an extreme case.

I understand that, thank you for your response. I am not looking to remove the post at all, I just want to deactivate the link within the post that goes to my client’s site. This would not change the content of the post; I don’t mind if it still appears as text. Please advise.

Yes, I saw that, I was referring to the part where you mentioned that deleting the post would remove added value. I don’t feel any value would be removed by simply changing the hyperlink to text only. I was pretty new to the forum at the time of the post and would not post anything again that I would not wish to be permanent. It did not occur to me at the time that search results would pull up the post and affect my client’s business. I would appreciate a tiny bit of leniency here as I exclusively use and recommend WordPress to every client I work with. Again, I am not asking to alter the content or accessibility of the information in the post, merely to change the hyperlink to text. Please make an exception as an unhappy client will affect my reputation.
