• I recently had my website converted from MODx to wordpress by a freelancer on upwork. As per another freelancer, he just copied php codes from MODx to wordpress without properly coding them which caused it to get messed up.

Now when I go to edit pages, I only see blank page under the title without any content. I cannot edit existing pages with the wordpress editor. Hostgator also worked on solving the issue but could not fix. Is there a solution to this?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Can you post some screenshots showing the blank page under edit pages ?

FWIW, I have had this issue on some pages and posts, unrelated to the new version of WP. It seems to be happening when they have special characters in them and, for me, is probably related to an old plugin I used to use. Recopying the text (I pull up the live post on the front end and copy from there) into the editor, fixing any weird characters, and curly quotes, and re-saving it has done the trick for me.

    Hi,

I assume you have chosen Gutenberg block editor & using it to edit the pages , this is what I see from your screenshot.

Probably you can switch back to Visual / Plain Text Editor on the right hand side of the Edit Page , then you must be able to see the current page content & should also be able to edit the pages.

    Let me know the outcome.

    Thanks.

    Hi Sundar,
Here’s how it looks now after your recommended change : https://pasteboard.co/IaTQekc.jpg
    Still no editable content.
But, here’s I gathered from another developer: “after checking the code of wordpress site, it looks like the site is developed statically and all the code are written in code file instead of manageable from admin side. Like about us page content is written in theme php file and same for other pages too. So to make fully customize will need to re develop it from scratch.”

So, in a nutshell the guy who converted my MODx site to WordPress messed it up. Is there any easy solution to fix it other than redeveloping from scratch?
    Thanks
