• After posting an entry and then editing/revising/updating that entry, when one goes back to change it from then on, the first version only comes up (that is, the very first version not the second or any subsequent edited/revised versions).

    Why?

  • I am having the same problem. No matter how many times I go back and save a post, it goes back to the original version of the post (when I clicked on the “post” button).

I noticed this happening after I disabled the WYSIWYG editor. I don’t know if it was happening before.

newmexiken – Are you using the WYSIWYG editor?

Could this be a caching issue?

No, I am not using WYSIWYG.

But thicke, you have described the problem exactly.

    Follow the advice from here:

    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/54870#post-299621

and see if the problem clears. if it does, let us know that (since you should not be seeing issues with caching in admin).

Thanks. I’ll try it. Cache was pure speculation on my part. But I guess it would be best rule it out anyway. I’ll post back when I know more.

    Good news and bad news….

The good news is that it looks like it’s fixed.

The bad news is that it was fixed by disabling the cache.

    I tested it this way:

First I disabled the cache in the config file. When I tried to edit the post it showed me the current revision of the post, instead of the original. I then reenabled cache in the config file. I edited the post, added text to it and saved it. When I tried to reedit the post, the added text was gone. I then disabled the cache in the config file again. When i opened the post in the edit window this time, the text added in the test above was there.

All this points (in my mind) to cache of at least the text in the edit box for the post admin page.

Do I need to open ticket on this? I’m not that familiar with Trac, so a point in the right direction would be appreciated if I do.

For right now, this is fixed by disabling cache. I’m not sure if I would really get any benefits from on a site as small as mine anyway.

Do I need to open ticket on this?

    I would.

Trac uses the same accounts as the support forums, so click login at the top and use your login info from here. Then select New Ticket and enter a descriptive (but short) summary, as well as as much information about the issue and your setup as you can. It’s also a good idea to choose the correct ticket properties (that is, those in the left-hand column; these should be obvious). Tags are not necessary to submit the ticket, but you no doubt can figure out a few appropriate ones for this.

    I disabled the cache.

    Ticket created. #2231
