Edit text box is blank?

  • My wordpress site has been running quite fine for years now and I haven’t added any new plugins or anything recently. I did, however, update WordPress itself to 6.1 and, subsequently, almost all of my 23 active plugins.

    While attempting to update a page, I began to notice slightly unusual behavior. For example, I clicked “Edit Text Block” and the popup box opens like normal, but it is blank — there is zero content inside of it. All I see is the header and the close and save buttons. I tried this repeatedly on different pages, MANY (but not all!) have the same result.

    I even tried the other editors (classic and Gutenburg), no luck.

    Considering some pages are fine, I figured there must be a plugin active on some pages but not others… but even on my most simple “under construction” page – which has nothing but an image and a small blurb of text – even that simple page cannot be edited. What the heck?!

    Out of desperation, I tried the “Health Check” troubleshooting option but was not able to determine anything from that.

    Is there anyone who can please help guide me through this? I am pretty comfortable with WP but I do not even know where to begin here! ??

  • The label “Edit Text Block” does not appear in WordPress core. Either this is an inaccurate label or you are using some plugin here that provides you with this button.

    Could you show a screenshot of it? Or also a link to your page so that one can see what is used there?

    I do use the Industrial theme from AnpsThemes (perhaps that’s where Edit Text Block comes from?)

    The button is from the PageBuilder WP Bakery you are using. I would ask you to contact their support: https://support.wpbakery.com/ – since this is a commercial product, we can’t help you here in the forum.

    Thank you, threadi. I will pursue assistance from WPBakery then. Seems I’ll have to purchase a full license to get support, unfortunately. Dang it.
