Edit Theme Metadata truncates readme.txt

  • To reproduce

    1. Using a text editor, update the theme’s readme.txt with valid content and save.
    2. Using the CBT “Edit Theme Metadata” menu item, edit the theme metadata and update.

    Result

    • The contents of readme.txt are truncated such that everything after the long description is removed (documentation, changelog, notes, etc.).
    • The description itself is overwritten with the value of the description in style.css.
    • CBT doesn’t seem to update any of the metadata in readme.txt (name, version, etc.), so perhaps it shouldn’t touch readme.txt at all.
