edit woocommerce css update safe

How do I edit woocommerce css so that it is update safe? I tried pasting the woocommerce.css file into my stylesheet of my child theme, but now i’m trying to figure out how to have my child theme style sheet override the woocommerce.css file. If I delete the contents of my woocommerce.css file. Then the styles are completely gone, it doesn’t even pick up the woocommerce css in my stylesheet. Please help. Thanks in advance!
