• Hi,

Does anyone know whether there is a plugin or a quick hack that will allow me to change the standard functionality of the WYSIWYG hyperlink tool so that rather than it putting target=”_blank” on all my links, it will use rel=”external” instead?

    I’m using WP 2.0.x.

    Thanks!

  • Agreed. WordPress should not have such a highly visible option to apply deprecated HTML attributes.

Myself, I was specifically looking for a plugin to detect an external link and automatically add rel="external" to a link. I found this, but seeing as though it doesn’t use kses, it has the danger of duplicating attributes and invalidating my code.
