• Hello! I am wondering if anyone can tell me how to get access to my admin panel again! I just updated to 4.1 and was re-inserting some code into the themes.php file (that I had there before) but must’ve done it incorrectly, because now I have nothing but a blank white screen! If I could just access the dashboard again, I could fix it seconds, but I can’t get in! please help.

  • Unfortunately, the whites screen sounds like you have some sort of error that is preventing WordPress from running.

Your best bet is to access your website via SFTP (or FTP) with a program like FileZilla. This will let you edit your files directly. You’ll need your SFTP credentials from your hosting company (which are different credentials than you use to log into WordPress).

Thank you! I am going to give this a shot right now!

Unfortunately I can’t get any files to show up in either filezilla or cyberduck. Can’t seem to find a fix online. Any ideas?

Your hosting providers will be able to help you find your website’s files.

When you do go to the ‘wp-content/plugins’ folder and then rename that “plugins” folder to “plugins-old”. Then rename it back to “plugins”. That will deactivate all of your website’s plugins just in case any are responsible.
