• It seems that any of my registered users over level 0 have the ability to edit any comments that anybody makes. I didn’t notice any security settings for this. How can I make sure only myself can edit any comments? Am I missing an obvious configuration setting or something?
    Thanks!

  • What I found was this.
    https://wiki.www.ads-software.com/User%20Levels
Compare it with your settings, maybe fiddle with them a bit if need be?

I have the same problem. All my co-authors are level 1 (they should be able to post), and still they’re able to remove comments, even for articles written by others.

I have experienced this problem as well. If you look at the edit-comments.php file you will see that comments can be edited if the user level is greater than that of the author of the post or if the user is the author of the post. But somehow this gets ignored and edit links appear on the comments section for users of the same level (even level 1). A friend of mine has managed to overcome this problem by disabling the edit comments function, thereby only allowing follow on comments to be added. If anyone finds out why users of the same level can edit each others comments please let me know. Thanks.

This problem is really annoying and also reported in multiple threads here, but I wonder why this doesn’t get fixed quickly. Is there a patch or something that I don’t know about?
