Editing Custom Field

I created a custom text field called (Serial Number) in the customer registration form. I cannot find any way to edit that field after a user has registered. I need the ability to edit that field for other users as the administrator and would also like users to edit the field themselves. I’ve got the checkbox turned on to allow them editing the field themselves but nowhere can I find it not in the account page or customer profile page.
