• Hi,

I’m designing my portfolio site now by using WordPress as CMT. I am wondering if there is anyway that you can edit the customized pages or elements of the site in the dashboard. For example now I’m creating a customized header and menu bars and if I want to change something in there such as editing text or changing graphics do I always have to manually edit them on my computer and upload them? Or if there is anyway you can edit them like editing posts and pages in the dashboard. If you have any idea please let me know. Many thanks!

  • Under Admin / Appearances you will see an editor for the active theme. Any files you add in the theme folder for custom elements will appear there.

You have more functionality when you use a text editor on your computer. A free one like Notepad++ contains FTP (you have to configure it for your site) so you can open a file on your server in the editor and have it save back to the server when you click Save.
