The last two updates broke the edit dialog for existing galleries. The “Add new pictures to gallery” button isn’t there (Only “Cancel Edit Gallery”) and it also displays the wrong pictures, sometimes even less pictures than there are ids in the gallery shortcode. Also I can’t select any of the existing pictures to edit the detail information (alt tag etc.).

Other plugins we’re using are Visual Builder and Justified Image Grid

    Hello @arjes,

Thank you for sharing your experience with us!

    (1) The gallery shortcode in the v2.1.2 is enhanced. From now it may contain parameters like %taxonomy_name%, monthnum, and year, and these parameters have priority over ids.

Imagine that your gallery shortcode looks like [gallery media_taxonomy="5" ids="1,2,3"], but actually other images 5, 6, and 7 belong to the media category 5. In this case the plugin treats the shortcode like there is no ids parameter at all. It’s filter-based gallery now. Since it’s filter-based, when you add or remove images to the media category 5, the gallery will automatically reflect the changes, you won’t need to edit gallery anymore.

Thus, the button “Add new pictures to gallery” is not available when you edit filter-based galleries. It’s devoid of meaning to manually add images to the gallery based on the media category, they will be ignored any way, and only images belonging to that category will be actually shown.

But it is really weird that you can see filters on you Edit Gallery screen, and that the gallery in the post is different from the gallery in the editor. I think it’s the incompatibility with some of your plugins. But since they are premium ones we can’t test it. (2) “Also I can’t select any of the existing pictures to edit the detail information (alt tag etc.).” — this is a bug, sorry for that, we will fix it in a few hours.

Just one more thing: with the next update we will add “Turn off enhanced gallery shortcode” option for the case like yours. At least, this will allow to turn the functionality off until we find a solution.

    Hello @arjes,

The bug with absent image meta fixed. The option “Turn off enhanced gallery” added as well, you can use it without deactivating the whole plugin until we find a solution.

    Best,

Glad to hear! What about your first problem with wrong images? Have you just deactivated the gallery feature of the EML?
