How do I create a static front page?

I can’t figure out how to edit the front page. I tried going to Appearance > Customize > General > Static Front Page > Front Page Displays “A Static Page”. When choose “A Static Page”, it gives me two options, “Front Page” and “Posts Page”, both looking like a link when I hover over them, but nothing happens when I click on either one. I figured clicking on the “Front Page” would give me some options on editing or adding a page that I created, but there are no further options from that point.

    Please help. Thanks!

  • You can find all the pages you have on Administration > Pages

Thanks for the time to respond vijayanta. I know how to find the pages I create on WordPress. My question was about editing the front page as a static page. Again, my problem is when I go to Appearance > Customize > General > Static Front Page > Front Page Displays “A Static Page”, there are no further options to do anything from that point.

I seem to have solved my own problem. The page I created for my static front page was set to “private” and the option for the page wasn’t available unless I made it “public” first. I just created a “coming soon” page while I design the actual page. Then when the page is done, I can make the actual page public and replace the “coming soon” page.

This are the option available there.
What else you would like to do?

vijayanta, I don’t think you read what my problem was initially or that I solved it, so your responses do not match the problem. Either way, thank you for your time to respond and please note that I marked this topic as “solved” as per my last message. Thanks!

Although marked “resolved”, in case anyone else is having this problem. My pages were set to public but no matter what theme I tried, setting the static page would not take. There was no option under “Settings, reading.” Finally, I simply reinstalled WP 4.1.1 and everything went back to normal.
