What does the Front page displays? setting say: blog posts, or a static page?

If static page, what page is selected in the Front Page dropdown immediately beneath?

It says recent Posts and I cannot find the home page in the list when I press static. What would happen If I choose blog ? Im very new at this and appreciate your response

I chose blog and it did not get me to the home page

    It says recent Posts…

That means that your site front page is set to display your Blog Posts Index, in which case there isn’t anything to configure, unless you intend to modify your Theme’s template files.

…and I cannot find the home page in the list when I press static. What would happen If I choose blog ?

Let’s take a step back: what do you want to display on your site’s front page? Do you want to display your blog posts index, or a static Page?

    It says recent Posts

In that case, your current home page is a list of recent posts generated on demand by WordPress. There is no Home Page for you to find in Admin-> Pages

What I call my home page is a blog page created by my previous web designer. That is ok But I would like to change the dialogue and picture at the top of that page but it appears that is not possible

    Site url?
