Hello, i need to assign metadata to my files (better if i can do it during the upload phase). I tried assigning [fileaway base=”1″ metadata=”database” manager=”on” directories=”on” type=”table” filenamelabel=”Titolo” datelabel=”Ultima modifica” customdata=”descrizione, categoria, tags”] for the visualization mode and [fileup metadata=”database” manager=”on” base=”1″ customdata=”descrizione, categoria, tags”] for the upload form, but:

    a) i can’t see the difference between storing metadata on filename or database

    b) i can only assign the metadata writing the terms in []

    Where i’m wrong?

    Thanks

metadata, manager, and customdata are not attributes of the fileup shortcode; they only work in the fileaway shortcode. Each shortcode with its accepted attributes is laid out clearly on the Tutorials tab of the File Away settings page.

ok, but the problem is even in the visualization because i can’t edit or delete files, like i’have not the permissions! So for that what is the problem? Thanks!

Are you using the rename feature on the manager mode table? If it’s not saving, and you’re not able to delete, then it’s likely a permissions issue, which is something you need to rectify on your server.

Yes, now it works! it was a role issue! But can i add custom meta while i’m uploading files? thanks so much!

When uploading, you can only add metadata to the filename, manually, using the square brackets. Adding metadata to the database at point of upload is not a feature.
