Editing Page: Blank Editing Window in both Visual & Text Mode

    when I go to edit one of my pages (“Bernini Updates”), nothing shows up in the window where the page content normally shows up, in either the Visual or Text mode. (This problem appeared out of the blue and does not show up when editing my other pages.) I can scroll down in the window but all I see are intermittent red underlinings (of the type indicating a spelling error) so something is indeed in that window. Is it because the page has become too long? When I view the page itself in normal view, all the content is fine.

    Did you recently do any changes to your site or installed any plugins that might affect the editor?

    Do you have a backup of your site from before the issue?

    To rule out any theme/plugin conflict, have you tried:
    – deactivating ALL (yes all) plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem (plugin functions can interfere). If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).
    – switching to the unedited default Theme (Twenty Seventeen, etc.) for a moment using the WP dashboard to rule out any theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    If the above steps do not help resolve the issue, try troubleshooting with your browser: Your browser can help you identify JavaScript issues or conflicts and this article can assist you in doing that diagnosis. This could help identify Visual Editor issues as well.

    thanks! will follow all the advice. I had just updated my Mac OS to “High Sierra” which then said I had to install an older version of Java. I had also just upgraded some themes. I do have backup of earlier version.

    I did deactivate my plugins and the problem went away. Fortunately I only had 2 plugins — Tiny MCE Advanced and Wordfence Security — so it won’t be hard to figure out which of the two is the culprit. Thanks!
