I began a new project last night. I uploaded my repository of WordPress (version 2.8.6), to be notified upon login (in Google Chrome for Windows) that 2.9 had been released. I upgraded, upgrade was successful. However, whenever i attempt to edit a post/page, google chrome reports that an error occurred, and suggests i refresh and try again. i tried editing a page in firefox, and it worked fine.

upon further use, it seems that there are several aspects of wordpress 2.9 that for some reason do not work properly in google chrome.

Well I don’t know what browsers the WordPress team focuses on, but me for instance, I only focus on Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari. Very few of my visitors use Google Chrome at the moment. But it is of course always nice to have a CMS that really works cross-browser. I am curious, what error did Chrome report?

Doesn’t Chrome use Apple’s Webkit though? So it should render pages as Safari would?

As Rhand says, what is the actual error? Or post a screenshot perhaps.

Disable any plugins/switch to the default theme, just to rule them out too.

@ Alism Your are right. Google Chrome uses WebKit as its user agent: https://www.google.com/chrome/intl/en/webmasters-faq.html:
Google Chrome uses the WebKit rendering engine, which is shared by other browsers such as Apple’s Safari. Web pages should look the same in Google Chrome as they will in these other WebKit-based browsers. You can look for webkit in user agent strings to target these browsers, rather than a specific browser name (such as Google Chrome or Safari).

I had some Safari/WebKit issues with the wysiwyg editor by WordPress. I recommended the client to use FF in the meanwhile. Can’t reproduce the issue at the moment I’m afraid..

Rhand, I can’t reproduce it either (in Chrome) and can edit posts and pages fine. Hopefully the OP comes back with an update re the plugins/theme.

the problem seems to have curiously been abated. i had disabled all plugins and was using the default theme, and was still receiving an error. idk what was happening, but im glad its solved itself. and there wasnt a specific error given. chrome just showed a generic error page, saying that there was an error on the page, and that the only solution was to reload and try again. oh well, thanks for the attention tho guys. ??
