• Hello!!

I am in the process of rebuilding my site after it was hacked and overtaken by radical extremists (no joke). They completely erased my entire site and replaced it with extremist propaganda. Unfortunately, my host was not backing up my site. I didnt realize I needed to be doing it as a manual process in their cPanel. /sob

ANYWAY… my question is… I have WP reinstalled and updated, got my theme installed and updated, and I am trying to make some changes to the header/footer. I have gone in to the Appearance -> Editor section, and every time I start to edit a .php file, or the .css file, Chrome slows down. At first its just laggy, but eventually it will grind to a halt all together. I cant select text, I cant type, I cant click on anything. I eventually have to just close the window.

Since I can still actually close out the window, I dont feel like its Chrome thats crashing necessarily. It’s like the WP install is crashing. Not sure if thats technically possible, but its what it looks like. Is there any known issue with the current version of WP and editing these files? Is anyone else having the same issue? If it matters I am using Divi 2.5.9 from Elegant Themes. I had no problem such as this when editing files prior to the hack.

    Thanks!!

  • try editing it through cpanel – file manager ,select the file you want to edit, and use the editor provided there.

    hope this helps

I appreciate the suggestion, but its concerning to me that this is happening, and hope someone might have a suggestion/fix. I never experienced this before. Its been a few days and if anything its worse. I just tried editing the .css file for Divi again and it just came to a screeching halt within a fe seconds. Again, Chrome itself hasnt crashed, but the content in the window is unresponsive.

    Thanks!
