Hi – I have a new WP blog that was fine until I added a contact form plugin and now my editing for pages and posts only shows the html code, not wysiwyg.

Didn’t there used to be an HTML option – a button on the right hand side of the editing screen – in the older versions of WP?

I can’t seem to get it back to a simple editor, which is what I want to hand over to my client.

    Thanks in advance.

  • From Admin, deactivate and then delete the plugin…

Then, use an FTP client to upload the compatible version of the plugin, log back in, activate, update settings.

    Check editor.

Thanks – do you think that is the problem? The plugin is a well respected one..?

I guess that is the best way to find out of course ??

Deactivated and deleted, but still only showing html…

www.ads-software.com has very many plugins…they have a very basic validation process…I believe those that are used/downloaded the most and have a good rating are the ones to use.

In reviewing a plugin or theme, look at stats, then come to the forums and search on the associated forum tags…do the developers respond? Are the stats much higher than the rest? Is there a select group who provide the most widely used plugins? (yes)

Swanson learning a lot from you. One point to add I learned from other sites that offer ratings on things. When initially looking at a rating, look to see how many people have rated the plug in. There is a major difference between a 5 star rating with only three people who rated it, and a 4 star with over a hundred people rating it.

Then do as swanson advises. I’m going to start doing the same.

Swason, the only reason I pointed that out is that by checking on how many people have rated a plug in may save time before deciding to do more work researching the plug in.

    100? 2 Million+ or 4.2 Million (3.3 support already!) or, 7.3 Million?? and 2.7 Million as of today :-/ !

And that is exactly the idea…who cares if 427 people like ‘x’ plugin…millions use ^ those, and more importantly use a theme that supports them (and not some paid for pretty quick fix template), add good hosting and remove the stress….I am getting there….

Thanks guys, but I have deleted the plugin and the problem still persists. Any further ideas?

Where is the old tab / button for HTML or not html for the text editor go? Or am I dreaming?

    How about a screenshot?

This is what all my other blogs look like – why is this new one different? Have I done something to remove the HTML button?

Are you the site admin and/or do you have any role type plugin(s) that set capabilities per user? The HTML editor is not available for all Roles.

I am the site admin – I set it up myself – is there somewhere that I have set myself… But obviously have stuffed up somewhere!!

Where do I set the roles?

Thank you – this seems to make sense ??

It says under “Users” that I am Administrator…

I tried deleting the text, and just adding in plain new text from a text editor.

I highlighted some text and hit the “Bold” icon, and it added the html!

Do I need to reinstall the whole blog?? What have I done wrong?

Are you using WordPress.Com or www.ads-software.com – .Com restricts html, I believe.

    If using .Org:

Login as Admin Dashboard>Users>All Users to see who is admin, editor, etc.

What theme are you using? Is it restricted in the theme settings?

    Did you review your plugins?

Also, are you using WordPress Multisite?
