    Hi – I have a new WP blog that was fine until I added a contact form plugin and now my editing for pages and posts only shows the html code, not wysiwyg.

    Didn’t there used to be an HTML option – a button on the right hand side of the editing screen – in the older versions of WP?

    I can’t seem to get it back to a simple editor, which is what I want to hand over to my client.

    Thanks in advance.

    I downloaded and installed wordpress-3.2.1.

    There is just one user and that user is an Administrator.

    The theme I am using is Graphene 1.5.5

    I have no (0) plugins installed.

    Did you check the URL’s per the last link I posted above?

    I added in

    define(‘WP_HOME’, ‘https://livingstories.net.au/blog’);

    It greyed out the option under General Settings > Site address (URL)

    I even logged out and logged back in again…

    but it is still doing the same thing

    Aha! I just tried re-installing wordpress, and got this error:

    ===

    Downloading update from https://www.ads-software.com/wordpress-3.2.1-no-content.zip…

    Unpacking the update…

    Could not copy file.: /home/livingst/public_html/blog/wp-content/upgrade/wordpress-3.tmp/wordpress/wp-includes/bookmark-template.php

    ===

    What does that mean?

    It means your host server failed due to memory allocation or file sizes usually.

    Try to update manually if you have FTP access and make sure to save any previous custimizations and apply accordingly.

    Ah ok – yeah we’re upgrading that one from an old one with the new site and blog… that would make sense.

    I have to go out now – thanks for your help so far! I won’t be back on here for a few hours…

    Oh, did you update both URL’s as noted in my post link’s link above?

    You can force the WordPress address (URL)and the Blog address (URL) in wp-config.php, this will override the DB field(s) and also ‘grey’ out the option in the admin panel.

    (@babushka)

    yes.

    Hi again all – it’s been a while since I checked in here, but I guess no-one had any further ideas…

    Unfortunately, the blog is still only showing HTML in the “New Post” section. The blog has now been passed onto my client, and we’d really like to know what on earth is causing this. I did a re-install. The server has plenty of space. Please can someone help?

    Any ideas welcome!

    I had this issue and resolved it thus:

    Go into Dashboard / Users / All Users

    then select the ‘admin profile’.

    Next to the first checkbox it says ‘Disable the visual editor when writing’. Make sure this is not checked.

    Click ‘Update Profile’ button down the bottom of that screen.

    Hopefully that fixes it for you. ??

    OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG *smooch*

    How could it be something soooo simple!?

    THANK you…
