Editing the home page

Hi WordPressers

I am really hoping one of you can help me. I am working with a new theme (to me anyway) called galactica and want to edit the home page. When I go into the pages section on the dashboard there is no home page there. I have tried installing the theme on a different blog and get the same result. Please let me know if this is something that can be fixed and how to do it.
