If you go to Settings > Media in the WordPress dashboard, you’ll see a checkbox labelled “Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders”. If you disable this, it will no longer use YYYY/MM folders. The plugin respects this setting.

Thanks – I actually never even knew this setting existed.

This still does not really solve the issue. Images sent to wp-content/uploads are sent to S3 with no issue but any folders within uploads dir do not sync with s3. IE: I am using an author plugin that creates a wp-content/uploads/author dir. It would be nice if sub directories were also added to s3 when created. the nextgen plugin also creates a lot of sub directories in uploads.

    Am I missing something?
