• I currently run a newspaper-like wordpress site. In our meetings there is no access to the internet, but I have a local copy of the site on my computer and can run it using xamp. Is it possible for people to upload pictures and posts on the xamp local version and then I can mass upload the site without any problems? Any thoughts on how to do this would be appreciated, thanks!

  • That would mean that every time you have to upload the files (images) AND to update the database (export from local and restore on the live site), since the posts/Pages content is stored in the database.
There is no guarantee it would work “without any problems” – the database backup and restore operation is always a delicate one, too many chances for something to go wrong…

This would be difficult to do, but not impossible. You’ll need a local geek to set it up for you. ??

Basically, you have to a) mirror the site files, so as to upload any images and such to the site, and then b) mirror the database, so as to upload the actual posts and other changes. But you can’t mirror the whole database, because things like comments and such on the main will be lost/overwritten.

So in short, it’s probably a lot more of a PITA than it’s worth to you. Your best option would be to spend a few bucks to set up wireless internet access in your meetings.
