EditMedia>ThumbnailCrop>Not Working?

  • I start a post and upload an image to use as featured image.
    The 150px thumbnail doesn’t look right so needs adjusted.
    I go to Media > Edit Image > and I crop the image down using “ApplyTo: Thumbnail only”.
    I hit Save, and Update, and according to the thumbnails used within WP Admin it has all worked.
    Upon viewing the public side of the website I can see my crop has not worked, and instead the 150px wide thumbnail has reverted to using a rescaled version of the full size original image.

    What am I doing wrong?
    Does cropping the thumbnail actually work?
