• Hi,

Since upgrading from WordPress v3.0.5 to v3.3.1 I have noticed that Editors no longer have the ability to edit the Author associated with a Post.
The panel is visible (I initially thought it was something simple like it wasn’t enabled in the Screen Options, but it IS enabled)

The problem is that inside the Author panel, there is no drop-down list displaying the Authors to choose from. This was working fine in 3.0.5, and I have nearly 60 sites running from this install so a reinstall of the update isn’t an ideal solution. Does anyone have a fix for this issue??

    Thanks!

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

    Hi Esmi,

I have tried deactivating ALL plugins, and resetting the Plugins folder to no avail. I also tried switching the theme over to the Twenty Eleven theme and that didn’t work either.

I haven’t tried uploading wp-admin and wp-includes again just yet, as we have 58 websites running from this trunk of WordPress.

I’ll speak with some colleagues since I’m new in my current role and wouldn’t want to do such a big edit on a whim.

Do you have any other suggestions I could try?
    Database settings? Access control tweaks?

The Author dropdown appears fine for Admin users, but Editors don’t have the dropdown list inside the panel.

Here is what the Editor sees:
