Editor broken after the latest update

  • Hi,

    I was having an issue with Gutenberg breaking BuddyPress Profiles when using version 16.6.0 – rolling back to 16.5.1 resolved this. Last week I updated to 17.0.2 which appeared to have fixed the bug but a new one began.

    When I tried to edit a post from the Dashboard I got an error load (screenshot and error code below).

    Disabling Gutenberg resolved the issue, Activating it again brought the issue back.

    I rolled back from version 17.0.2 to 16.9.1 and the editing post issue was resolved (as was the BP Profile issue).

    I’m now using:
    WordPress 6.4.1
    Gutenberg 16.9.1
    Theme Lawson (ThemeZee)

    Any help or advice much appreciated.

    Hi @ahillmortons! I haven’t been able to reproduce this with the following:

    • WP 6.4.1
    • Gutenberg 17.0.2
    • BuddyPress 11.4.0
    • Lawson theme 1.0.1

    Do you have any caching/optimization plugins installed, that might be interfering here? You can also figure out if there’s any plugin conflict, using the Health check plugin.

    If you can install plugins, install and activate Health Check. It will add some additional feature under create a new menu position Tools > Site Health.

    On its troubleshooting tab, you can Enable Troubleshooting Mode. This will disable all plugins, switch to a standard WordPress theme (if available), allow you to turn your plugins on and off and switch between themes, without affecting normal visitors to your site. This allows you to test for various compatibility issues.
