Editor is adding blank lines

When I save or save and continue editing wp adds lines between paragraphs randomly. I remove the <p> </p> from the code but after saving more appear. 2 more each save and not always in the same place. I can remove them and save but they reappear. If I save again there are twice as many. I am using Chenpress plugin for editing and have activated TextControl which is set to no formatting but still the line spaces appear. Help!
