    Hey,

    My editor is missing from my WordPress dashboard. I have taken the line of code out from wp-config.php but didn’t seem to resolve the issue.
    Any other ideas I could try?

  • Can you be more specific when you say the editor is missing from the dashboard? And what line of code did you remove exactly?

    As a test, can you temporarily disable all plugins and revert to a default theme (Twenty Thirteen, Twenty Fourteen, etc.) and see if that solves the issue?

    Thanks for getting back to me.

    What I mean is, that in the past, when I hover over appearance, you get an editor option that lets you go into the php files and make some edits. This is no longer in my dashboard.

    the line of code I removed was define(‘DISALLOW_FILE_EDIT’, TRUE);

    and have just tried your suggestions, disabled plugins reverted theme, and still it’s not there.

    Have you checked with your host to make sure they’re not doing anything weird and disabling the Editor in the version of WordPress they’re installing for you?

    If you’ve already checked your wp-config.php – It could be a plugin that is doing this. I use All In One WordPress Security and Firewall and most of the time I disable the editor there before handing the site off to a client.

    Try deactivating your plugins and see if it reappears.

    Any luck solving this one?

    Yep all sorted now, turns out the file that I removed the code from, I put in the wrong directory. Doh!
