• Hi,
The work done by the WordPress teams are doing in enhancing the editor is great but I find the amount of white space the editor shows on the left and right of blocks annoying. One could argue that 30-50% of the screen is not used.
With monitors and screen resolution getting bigger and bigger how can one adjust the block display width when editing to use the available white space. When pages are displayed all the screen real estate is used.

  • The editor supposedly uses the $content_width variable set by the theme.

    Thank you Joy,

If I may ask, how does one change change this variable. I’m using the Genesis – Dedicated theme and have no idea where to start.

I have looked through the theme settings and can not see that there is an option to make this change and I assume any change made will also be reset when there is a theme update.

You would need to ask at the theme’s support forum. Each theme could do it differently (calculating the width based on sidebar or full-width or whatever other factors the theme has). They might not have set it correctly for the editor environment.
