I am new to WP and have been using the RTE.

The editor worked great for a few weeks and then a week ago it stopped alowing me to publish or save posts!.

When I press Save or Publish I get a pop up with the following text in it. After which only the title of the post is Saved or Published – all content is lost.

Title of popup – “Windows Internet Explorer”
Text in popup line1 = “Are you sure you want to navigate away from this page?
Text in popup line2 = “The changes you made will be lost if you navigate away from this page”
Text in popup line3 = “Press Ok to continue, or Cancel to stay on the current page”

The above also happens when I use Firefox.

I have more information on this error.

    1. I have a blog hosted at https://www.siteground.com – I get the publish error every single time I try to post whether I use IE or Firefox (and all the other tricks like CTRLA/C etc dont work.)

    2. I have a stub of a blog at wordpress.com https://russab2001.wordpress.com/
I can publish posts to this with no errors at all. Using IE or Firefox.

I conclude that it is therefore likely to be a scripting error with the wordpress install at siteground.

BUT – that was working – it just stopped working a week ago.

Siteground has reinstalled the default install of wordpress scripts etc.. – the error persists.

    Help !

Sorry – last bit of info …

I have made a list of all the scripts running at the moment I hit the “publish” button they are:

    wpincludes/js/fat.js
    wpincludes/js/tw-sack.js
    wpincludes/js/dbx.js
    wpincludes/js/dbx_key.js
    wpincludes/js/tinymce_gzip.php?ver20051211
    wpincludes/js/quicktags.js
    wpadmin/cat_js.php

    I hope this helps ….

The message in your first post is that of the WYSIWYG editor. It’s to make sure that you don’t click a link and loose your post by accident. It should not show up when you click one of the save/publish buttons.

Have you changed anything in the past two weeks? Files? Options? Installed a new plugin that is breaking this? Have you tried a hard refresh (control + F5) on the Write screen?

If all this fails, just disable the WYSIWYG editor for the time being (uncheck the box at the bottom of the “Users” screen).

I did install the plug in from AI3 to extend the TinyMCE editor. https://www.mkbergman.com/?p=275

But I didnt have any problem with it and if you see the blog for the extension no one else does either.

I uninstalled it and deleted all the files related to it, and re-installed the default WP install at siteground.com which I thought would get me back to square one.

Ok all pain has gone away.

I have installed the free BLOGDESK
    https://www.blogdesk.org/en/info.htm

and now edit offline with fantastic rich / HTML editing facilities, photo manipulation, and of course a complete back up offline (I dont totally trust the hostign company!)

What a relief – moral – dont use the WP built in editor.

    au revoir…

Thanks altendor this is what i just looking for ??
