Editors' Picks – Google News

Hi Daniel, it’s been on the todo list for a while now but I have not implemented anything because I’m not sure how the admin side of these Editor Picks would work best.

Let’s say, it would serve on a multi-author site and authors do NOT have admin or even editor rights. Now who would you want to allowed to create/modify the Editors’ Picks list. Any Editor or only one or only Admins?

And would the normal WP excerpt field suffice for the <description> tag?

If you can give me your thoughts on the desired workflow, I might be able to move forward on this feature ??

I think any Editor should have access to create/modify. Only authors shouldn’t have access.

For the <description> I think it’s best to use the first paragraph, if possible, or a limited number of characters. I think no one uses WP excerpt field anymore.

Too bad because it can be a powerful asset for SEO reasons. If used correctly by the theme and authors of course ??

Anyway, I cannot promise anything very soon but I’ll definitely will be taking this up…

For the description tag I’ll probably fall back on how it is currently used in normal WordPress RSS feeds to not complicate it all too much.
