Numerous typos have appeared on my bio page above (bad spacing, run-together words, duplicate letters). These were not evident in recent months; a site visitor pointed them out to me. Same typos visible on multiple devices, different browsers.

When I edit the page from dashboard, all the corrections are shown. I click “Save”. The changes will not translate to the visible webpage online. I have cleared all the browser caches I can access. Any hints on how to surface these edits and correct my bio?

    Thank you.

Hm, yeah I do see the uncorrected version, and https://astronauttomjones.com/about-tom/?no-cache does indeed make no difference.

This is a tough one, sorry about that!

It’s not browser cache, and it’s probably not a server-side or reverse-proxy cache (or, at least a cache that is follow the ?no-cache standard).

Would you please take a larger less blurry screenshot of the editor this time with the editor sidebar open? https://www.ads-software.com/documentation/article/page-post-settings-sidebar/

    Thanks!

I also have a few thoughts:

First, the good news: I see the text you corrected in WordPress’ REST API, which means it’s definitely saved. It just not output in the frontend.

You are obviously using the commercial version of Beaver Builder. As far as I know, it also has its own cache. You should be able to find it under Settings > Beaver Builder > Tools. Empty it. If you have any questions about this, I would recommend their support – they can’t help you with commercial products here in the forum.

I also notice that you are using a customized theme. Since we don’t know what’s in it, it might be a good idea to ask the person who created it for you.

And my last thought is an idea: the sledgehammer method: deactivate all plugins and switch to a standard theme. Is the text visible then? If so, it was due to the theme or one of the deactivated plugins.

If you are using Beaver Builder to design/edit the page, did you make the edits to the text in Beaver Builder or did you switch to the WP Editor and save and then enable BB again after making the changes?

If you switched to the WP Editor to make the changes and then enabled BB again, that would explain why the changes show in the WP editor and in the REST API but not on the frontend. You cannot switch back and forth like that without losing the changes you are making in each editor. You would need to make your changes in Beaver Builder.

Appreciate the thought you’ve put into this, Jamie, Threadi, and James. You folks guessed that someone has built this website for me. I don’t have the skills with these various tools, as I’ve not a website builder, just the owner of the site. I don’t know Beaver Builder, themes, or REST API. I’m just trying to find the hang-up that introduced these errors and won’t let me correct them through the WP editor. So, does someone still need a screen shot? Other than Cntrl-PrtScn, what method would give you a sharp image of the screen of my corrected page, with the editor sidebar? — TJ

I’d start with Jamie’s suggestion. Make sure you’re making these changes in Beaver Builder’s editor, not WordPress’s editor (since your site is using Beaver Builder instead of WordPress’s editor).

If you are, or you do re-make the changes there and they still aren’t displayed, clear Beaver Builder’s cache as Threadi suggested.

Beaver Builder has documentation at https://docs.wpbeaverbuilder.com/beaver-builder/ and support at https://www.wpbeaverbuilder.com/beaver-builder-support/

And, if none of those work, this problem may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to deactivate all plugins and switch to the default Twenty Twenty-Four theme. If the problem goes away, re-activate them one by one to identify the source of the problem.

If you can install plugins, install?Health Check. On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to deactivate all plugins and change the theme for you while you’re still logged in without affecting normal visitors to your site.

Thank you, James. I’m unable to decipher Beaver Builder or access its editor; that’s beyond my skill level. I don’t know how to look at my page contents on Beaver Builder. Switching themes is a suggestion I appreciate, but I don’t know how to do that. What other step by step help might you be able to offer? Is the “Health Check” plug in the best place to start? Is that an option a novice could try? Thank you.

I think, to just simplify and focus on the likely problem, what’s going to be best is to work with Beaver Builder on this.

They have documentation at?https://docs.wpbeaverbuilder.com/beaver-builder/?and support at https://www.wpbeaverbuilder.com/beaver-builder-support/

If the documentation is unclear, I recommend reaching out to their support.

I’m quite certain the problem is the pages were done in Beaver Builder’s editor. Beaver Builder’s support can help with that, or at the very leave confidently rule themselves out as the problem.

Thank you, James. I turned the problem over to the website design team, as I’d hit a wall in trying to match my poor skills against the page corruption problem. Appreciate the many attempts to help me.
